About

"Stepping into the uncomfort is the first step in learning about yourself; your evolution as a human. The flow of life is always changing, nothing is static and instead of fighting against that, use it as a compelling life announcement: you get to learn even more about yourself and what you desire to ensure you live a life that’s defined by you, that is, one that’s well-lived."

Josh

Thank you for your interest and entrusting me in your ongoing life journey through coaching! It can be a very transformative experience and I look forward to connecting with you.

Coaching is a collaborative conversation that helps YOU gain clarity and insights. It is focused purely on YOUR agenda. It is not about giving advice or making suggestions. Coaching helps YOU discover the right way to progress. Coaching presupposes that the YOU are whole, creative and resourceful and know the right answers; the coach supports the client to find these answers in a non-judgmental space.

I'm an ICF (International Coaching Federation) trained coach and have over a decade of program and leadership background working and leading cross-cultural teams, with the majority of my work in the international program, student mobility, and project space. I have traveled the globe and work with a lens of deep intercultural humility and making real connections with people.

My resilience though life's valleys have allowed me to find an intersectional motivation in being a part of a world that values power-within and through vs. power-over. Today, I have unlearned shame and cultural expectations of what I should do and rather am now very intent on living a life around my core values that breakdown cultural expectations, particularly around entrenched harmful power systems. Today, I recognize my deep empathy and sensitivity is not weak, but one of my greatest gifts. My goal of being a counter-cultural “bridge person” and dismantling systems of oppression through interpersonal and intercultural growth for the rest of my life is what I strive for in my work as a coach, and with clients.

My core values are: Compassion, Connection, Love, Gratitude, Wisdom, Learning

Quotes that resonate with me and frame my orientation towards life and coaching:

So that became, actually, perhaps the most pivotal point in — I don’t know — the landscape of my life: that dance with despair, to see how we are called to not run from the discomfort and not run from the grief or the feelings of outrage or even fear — and that, if we can be fearless, to be with our pain, it turns. It doesn’t stay static. It only doesn’t change if we refuse to look at it. But when we look at it, when we take it in our hands, when we can just be with it and keep breathing, then it turns. It turns to reveal its other face, and the other face of our pain for the world is our love for the world, our absolutely inseparable connectedness with all life.

- Joanna Macy

“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”

-Rainer Maria Rilke

“When you recognize that pain – and response to pain – is a universal thing, it helps explain so many things about others, just as it explains so much about yourself. It teaches you forbearance. It teaches you a moderation in your responses to other people’s behavior. It teaches you a sort of understanding. It essentially tells you what everybody needs. You know what everybody needs? You want to put it in a single word? Everybody needs to be understood. And out of that comes every form of love.”

-Dr. Sherwin Newlund

“If we believe that life is finished, ready, then we know there isn’t anything that can be done about anything. Or we may be of the mind that life in its essence is not fixed, is not frozen, but life in its essence is fluid, is creative … Purposes therefore, goals, deeds, ideals can fulfill themselves because of the fluid, flowing character of all of life.”

-Howard Thurman

Client Testimonials

"I have been having coaching sessions with Josh and they have been really helpful to me in many different ways - from looking at the minutia of life as well as big picture level and how all those things fit together and influence one another and where to work on next. I highly recommend Josh as a coach to anyone. Josh's friendly, open approach made me feel really comfortable and helped me realize a few things about myself and the things I need (and don't need!) to realize the values that are important to me in order to move forward! Thank you Josh!"

"I decided to hire Josh (InterGen Coaching) because: He came well-referred, and his program was simple to understand. All the details/FAQs were well laid out, so my expectations were set at a proper level (only to be surpassed by the actual outcome).

"Coaching with Josh has given me the freedom to seek out further coaching relationships. Coaching is not for just a small number of businesses and business leaders. I think a majority could find some benefit (with real ROI) on engaging a coach/coaching team on a regular basis."

"I would recommend Josh to others with no experience with coaching. Young professionals. People changing careers. Organizations (that may not be used to extending continuing education resources to their staff) who may want to provide professional development. High school departments, colleges, nonprofits."

"I am so fortunate to have worked with Josh during his formative coaching years, because I seriously suspect that he will quickly become a star. Josh was my first foray into being coached, and I had some preconceptions that were dashed within minutes. His clarity of mission and goals--his and mine--were refreshing, especially since we were attempting to address my scattershot "methods" of organization."

"Within the framework of our half a dozen sessions, Josh guided me through two projects, one that failed, and one that succeeded because of the first's misfiring. He helped me build a structure that I still use to this day, AND one that I will use to set myself up in the future to experience other successful projects. I highly recommend meeting Josh, and finding out what he can structure for you, your ideas and your businesses."
